BURLINGAME – California Teachers Association President, E. Toby Boyd, issued the following statement today about the importance of vaccines amid the spread of the Delta variant of COVID:
“Over the months we’ve been battling this pandemic, the California Teachers Association has long been a proponent of vaccines and has worked to ensure that educators had access to the vaccine before returning to in-person instruction. Now, with this Delta variant, we continue to urge educators, school staff and eligible students to get vaccinated, and for our schools to serve as community vaccination sites. Vaccines, along with multiple layers of safety protections – including masks, testing and physical distancing – are our primary and most important defense against COVID and are key to ensuring safe in-person instruction can continue this fall. We all have a responsibility to be part of this solution for our students and our communities.”
