Animal Accommodation Policy

The California Teachers Association (CTA) is committed to ensuring that all attendees of its conferences and meetings have equal access and opportunity to participate in these events. CTA recognizes that some attendees with disabilities may require the assistance of animals for various reasons. This document outlines the policy and procedures for reasonably accommodating disabled attendees who require the use of assistive animals at CTA conferences and other events. This policy also recognizes that for the health and safety of all attendees and to avoid disruptions at CTA conferences and meetings, pets are not permitted in conference and meeting spaces.

Child Care

You must Register your Child to reserve a spot at Camp CTA.

Children attending Camp CTA must adhere to the conference Health & Safety Policies.

CTA is offering a no-charge child care program at the 2024 Special Education Conference. Child care is available to all Special Education Conference attendees who are the primary caregivers of the child(ren) attending Camp CTA for children ages 6 months to 16 years. While you’re attending meetings, your children can enjoy their own Camp, organized by ACCENT on Children’s Arrangements, Inc., a national company specializing in children’s activities. Camp CTA is a complete morning to early evening entertainment program packed with activities. *All children must be preregistered to ensure proper staffing levels. Children participate in age appropriate activities, including arts and crafts projects and active games, in a safe, nurturing, and educational environment. The high ratio of caregiver to child (1:2 for children 6 months-12 months, 1:3 for children 13 months-2 years, 1:5 for children 3-5 years, and 1:8 for children 6-16 years) ensures campers receive lots of personal attention.

Note: There will be a $20/day no show fee for children registered who do not show up or cancel 24 hours in advance.

Program will include afternoon snacks and juice, program entertainment, and craft materials. If preiordered through registration, CTA will provide dinner Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner Saturday as well as breakfast and lunch on Sunday, for the registered children. Note: There is a $10 charge per meal. Parents can request meals and provide payment information through registration. Meals will be charged after the Conference Weekend. Meals will be charged for no shows unless cancelled 24 hours prior. If parents do not want to pay for meals, they can send/bring meals.

Credits

Professional Growth Hours: Professional Growth credit will be available at no cost for CTA members. Confirmation of professional growth hours will be emailed shortly after the conference.

University Credit: The 2023-2024 University Credit Program is a benefit available to members attending CTA Conferences during the 2023-2024 school year. CTA Members, through attending in-person or virtual conferences, will be given the opportunity to accumulate the professional growth hours needed to qualify for university credit units with CSU, Chico. As a benefit to members, CTA will cover the cost for up to six university credit units with CSU, Chico, normally $75/credit. The professional growth hours can be accumulated by attending conferences live and/or by watching recordings. Click here for more information on how to claim the credit.

Grants

The CTA Board of Directors will award conference grants for the upcoming Special Education Conference. These incentive grants are available to new members, BIPOC members and members from small chapters. Please click here for more details.
