Fighting for the Public Schools and Communities All Students Deserve

Jeff Good is an educator, organizer and Executive Director of California Teachers Association.

A member of the CTA family for nearly 30 years, Jeff was a member of the Inglewood Teachers Association, serving as Vice President, before joining staff at CTA as an organizer and then becoming Executive Director at United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) in 2014. He became Executive Director of CTA in March 2024.

Born in Dallas, Jeff taught for 11 years in Washington, D.C., and Inglewood public schools. An organizer at heart, Jeff became the union rep at his elementary school in his first year as a teacher.

During Jeff’s time at UTLA, members went on historic strikes that brought thousands into the streets of L.A. in support of public education and secured significant contract victories on class size, staffing, salary and community needs; and won nation-leading bargaining agreements on COVID health and safety throughout the pandemic.

Jeff is proud to be part of a member-led organizing union that fights for educators, students, and communities as part of a constant effort to make the world a better place.

“When educators come together to determine shared goals and then move in the same direction, there is no victory — at the worksite or statewide – that is outside of our reach,” Jeff says.

In his role, Good is in charge of CTA’s day-to-day operations, including management of over 400 employees and oversight of more than 1,000 local affiliates.
