Leading the Way to Improve Learning and Teaching Conditions
VanCedric Williams, a high school science educator in San Francisco Unified School District is serving an unexpired term as the District A Director on the CTA Board of Directors that ends in June 2023. Williams was elected in March 2023 to his first full term in the seat, which begins in late June 2023 and ends in June 2026.
Williams is a 23-year educator and member of United Educators of San Francisco, where he has served as treasurer, on the executive board, and on the bargaining team for four contracts.
Beginning his career in education as a paraeducator, Williams saw the impact he had on the achievement and success of young people, especially Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), and committed himself to working with students in high-need communities. Williams has worked as a teacher-leader in the Community Dream School Project, and he also leads a student mentoring project that empowers BIPOC students to grow and shine, and develops leadership through community service.

Williams’ service extends to the state and national levels, in a variety of capacities including on the NEA Board of Directors, as a CTA State Council of Education delegate, and on the CTA Budget Committee and Political Involvement Committee.
He lives in Oakland.
