Leading the Way to Improve Learning and Teaching Conditions
Gregory Abt, CTA Executive Board Member District O, is serving his second three-year term on the Board, which expires on June 25, 2025.
Greg caught the teaching bug at an early age; ‘I’ve always been drawn to education. Since I was a child, I remember telling people I wanted to be a teacher; it’s the thought of being passionate about something and sharing that passion with others.”
He is a classroom veteran with over a quarter-century of experience, serving currently at Beaumont High School in the Sp. Ed. Department teaching social science/history.
Greg has taken union leadership roles locally, regionally, and statewide that have him ready for leadership on the CTA board. Over his teaching tenure, he has served as local site rep, a short stint as vice president, and seven years as president of Beaumont Teachers Association. He has served seven years as a state council member; his expertise was appreciated as chair of the Special Education Committee on Legislation for six of those years.

He received a bachelor’s degree in history from U.C. Riverside, and master’s in educational administration and in special education from Azusa Pacific University.
Along with his many roles and responsibilities, Greg is an accomplished cook who knows the business- now in his spare time. He owned a catering company for 13 years.
