Leading the Way to Improve Learning and Teaching Conditions
Grant Schuster is a 29-year middle school teacher in Anaheim. He is in his second year as the CTA/NEA Coordinating Director on the CTA Board and in his fourth year serving CTA on the NEA Board. He spent six years as president of the Anaheim Secondary Teachers Association focused on building organizational power through strong school sites and building relationships with student, parent and community groups.
He worked with similarly motivated locals building the California Alliance for Community Schools, which has organized around our collective power to fight privatization and promote the reimagination of public schools.
In his board position, he works to provide locals with access to the program, staff and monetary resources of both CTA and NEA to support local organizing and coalition building. In his free time, there’s a good chance to bump into him at an LA Kings hockey game or a goth music concert in a local club.
