Leading the Way to Improve Learning and Teaching Conditions
Christopher Bushée is a chemistry educator who has spent his professional life committed to the belief that “Public education is vitally important to our society.”
His path is proof that he has remained committed to that belief. He brings twenty-five years of teaching and leadership experience to his new role as CTA Governing Board Member for District I.
Bushée began the first years of his teaching career in Chicago, after graduating from the Universities of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Chicago where he holds both degrees in Bachelor of Science and Master’s in Education. It was a subsequent move to Southern California that brought him to Beverly Hills High School to teach science. Since then Bushée has engaged in extensive union involvement that comprises decades of local service as Grievance Chair, Bargaining Chair, Political Action Chair, Vice President, and President of the Beverly Hills Education Association.
At both regional and state levels, Bushée has served in multiple leadership roles, which include many years of service as a CTA State Council Representative, CTA-ABC Committee Member, Legislative Sub-Committee Co-Chair of Curriculum and Instruction as well as 10-time delegate to the annual NEA Representative Assembly.
“Public education is vitally important to our society.”
Bushée has been recognized by his peers and has received numerous accolades, including: CTA’s Theodore Bass Memorial Teacher-in-Politics Award in 2009 as well as the ‘WHO’ Awards in 2011, 2015, and 2016.
Bushée is part of a proud union family. His wife of twenty years, Claudia Bushée, is also a longtime CTA-ESP member; she begins her third decade as an education support professional, working daily assisting teachers with special needs students.
Christopher Bushée is serving his first three-year term on the Board, which expires on June 25, 2024.
